The Returners

When it comes to experience, Coach McMath knew after losing 9 guys from last year's team it was going to be tough to replace that production. The returning players to the program include  Virgil Walker Jr. (Midland/Midland High), a 6'6" Forward who averaged 9 points and 7 rebounds per game. He was named an All-Conference Honorable Mention last season. Next,  Devonte Allen (Saginaw/Saginaw High) and  Jalen Fykes (Flint/Flint Hamady) are returning and looking to take on a bigger role within the program.  Justin Person (Flint/Carman Ainsworth) returns to the program for the 2017-18 season after not playing since the 2014 campaign. Finally,  Martel Handley (Saginaw/Arthur Hill) returns after being named to the All-Freshman along with the Third Team All-Conference team in 2016.

The Transfers

Coach McMath has added three transfers to the team for 2017-18 looking to help fill that void from losing nine players from a year ago. 

 Billy Burton Jr.  - Burton comes to Delta by way of Ferris State University, Burton known as a scorer player, comes in looking to contribute right away for his old high school coaches. 

 Cedric Moten – Cedric comes to Delta by way of Chardon College in Texas. Cedric, a Flint native, won three state championships while at Beecher High School. 

 Brandon Brackett - Brackett comes from stints playing football at the Division II level to return to the hardwood. A Grand Blanc native, Brackett will bring maturity and leadership to the program.

The New Comers

Finally, every team needs its freshmen and the squad this year will feature 9.

 Torandis Mack – Entering his first season on the hardwood after completing one academic year at Delta College.  

 Vincent McKinney - McKinney helped lead Detroit Public Safety to a Regional appearance.

 LeOntae Parker - Parker, a Saginaw native, comes to Delta after completing a successful career at Columbus High located in Columbus, Tennessee.

 Deon Gray – Deon Gray comes to Delta from Saginaw Heritage High School after an All-Conference performance his senior year.

 Evan Anderson - Anderson comes to Delta after a stellar career at Essexville Garber averaging 13 rebounds per game.

  Brendon Schlink - John Glenn's leaders in rebounds for the past two seasons comes to Delta with a bright future ahead of him.

 Jordan Martinus - Jordan Martinus comes in as a sharpshooter after his career at Birch Run.

 Justin Strbenc - Justin returns to the court eager to contribute right away. 

 Troy Antwine - Troy joins the Pioneers after a successful career at Arthur Hill.

 Payton Miller - After taking a year off, Birch Run's leading scorer and rebounder from 2016 joins the program.

Entering his third season, Coach McMath is ready for the 2017-18 season. Their first game is on November 4 when the Pioneers take on Rochester JV.
